SPFAST provides assistance to New Jersey State Troopers, both active and retired, and their immediate families. The assistance would be provided in the event of a sickness, unforeseen hardship or other emergency or catastrophic event where their financial responsibilities are negatively impacted as a result of costs outside of normal insurance coverage's. SPFAST will be funded by utilizing the New Jersey Law and Public Safety Credit Union, (you can download a membership form by clicking here) whereby Troopers who volunteered to participate would have a designated amount withdrawn from their bi-weekly paychecks and placed in a non-profit account where deductions would be tax exempt. A statement of by-laws to cover the administration of the fund will also be a permanent part of this organization.
It is the hope that SPFAST will eventually be fully funded on a yearly basis by participating with the NJL&PS Credit Union.
Additionally, other types of fundraising events will be sponsored by SPFAST to help raise money for troopers and their family members that are in need of financial assistance. If any member is interested in hosting an event to raise money for a Trooper in need of assistance or support due to the aforementioned circumstances please contact one of the SPFAST board members to discuss any such event. SPFAST welcomes any and all fund raising suggestions and will assist in any such endeavors to make the event a success.
SPFAST would like to thank everyone for their generosity in support of this organization. For those of you who contributed to SPFAST last year via the Charitable Campaign, your donations will end after pay period # 26 (There is nothing the Trooper needs to do to cancel, since we are not utilizing this forum). For 2011 we are using two options where a trooper can voluntarily contribute to SPFAST; the first is a payroll deduction through the New Jersey Law & Public Safety Credit Union, (you can download a form here) and the second is a donation to SPFAST directly at P.O. Box 43, Sea Girt, New Jersey 08750. Attached is the credit union deferral form. Current credit union members only need to complete their name, account number and the deferral amount per check. These completed forms can be forwarded to P.O. Box 43, Sea Girt, NJ. Once again thanks for all of your support. If anyone has any questions feel free to call SFC Ron Kirby @ 732-501-1500. SPFAST accepts requests for support and assistance from both active and retired Troopers who wish to identify a Trooper family in need. Our Board carefully reviews each request and then determines at what level the organization can or cannot provide assistance.
